How To Install Windows via USB

Ever wanted to install windows without the hassle of finding the Windows CD/DVD . Guess what, there is much easier way to install windows than you might think. Almost everybody today has a USB drive in his/her pocket,so why don’t use it.

All you need to have is a PC, a USB drive (minimum of 4GB) and a Windows CD/DVD (first time only).  Now here are some easy steps that you need to follow in order to make a boot-able Windows USB drive. Simply Follow these Steps.

How To Install Windows via USB

Step#01: 

• First go to the command prompt (Do this by pressing WIN+R and type “ cmd “ and press Enter)

• OR  START > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt)

Step#02: 

• Type “ diskpart ”

This will load the windows partitioning system within command prompt. A directory will open.

Step#03:

• Type “ select disk # ”

e.g if you want to choose disk 1 based on the information provided in the directory in step#2, you may write  select disk 1. Here you will select the USB drive by looking  at the space  provided in the directory. After this step you will be  notified about the disk in use.

Step#04:

• Type “ clean ”

Step#05:

• Type “ create partition primary ”

Step#06:

• Type “ active ”

.

Step#07:

• Type “ format fs=fat32 quick ”

This will format your USB drive provided you selected the right option in step#3. This will take a moment in formatting the drive.

Step#08:

• Type “ assign ”

.

Step#09:

• Now insert your Windows CD/DVD in the optical drive and copy all the contents of the disk into the USB drive in windows explorer. After doing this restart your PC.

Step#10:

• Based on your PC,open the boot menu upon restart. Select the USB drive and you are ready to go.

Now onwards you’ll never have to use a CD/DVD. You have just created a copy of that in the USB drive.
