Redsn0w is a jailbreaking tool introduced by iPhone Dev-Team, and this time the team has upgraded it for Mac only. This version is still tethered means that you have to connect your device to a computer running Redsn0w in order to boot your device in the jailbroken state.
The supported devices for this jailbreak include:
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPod touch 4G
  • iPad 1
  • iPhone3GS
  • iPhone4 (GSM)
  • iPhone4 (CDMA)
In order to Jailbreak iOS 5 usinf Redsn0w you have to follow the following steps:
Step 1:
Download the latest version of iOS 5 beta according to your device. Make sure that you have a developer account for legal download.
Step 2:
Restore your device to its original iOS 5 configuration if you have already jailbroken it. You can do this using iTunes 10.5 Beta.
Step 3:
Download latest version of Redsn0w. Now click at browse as shown in screenshot below:
Choose the iOS 5 Beta Firmware you have downloaded from Apple’s developer site and click ‘Open’.
 Step 4:
Now on screen 6 options will appear, check the first one i.e “Install Cydia” . You can tick other options you want.
 Step 5:
In this step switch off your device but make sure it is still ‘Plugged In’ to the computer.
 Step 6:
This step Instructs you to enter DFU mode : press and hold the ‘Home’ button and the ‘Power’ button for 10 seconds, after this release the ‘Power’ button but still press the ‘Home’ button for 10 more seconds. Follow the instructions which appear on the screen.
 Step 7:
After step 6 you don’t need to worry because Redsn0w performs its operation automatically and it does not require user intervention. After the process is complete you will receive a notification.
