Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Cut His Salary to $1

Mark-zuckerberg.jpg

In 2013, Zuck only earned a buck.
Going by salary at least, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg earned just $1 for the year, according to a regulatory filing released on Monday. In Silicon Valley, though, earning a token salary is a sure sign that you've made it. Other $1-per-year men have included Apple's Steve Jobs and the Google guys — Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Like those tech luminaries, Zuckerberg owns a substantial stake in his company, making a salary irrelevant. Nevertheless, Zuckerberg has collected a decent salary before — in 2012, he made $503,205.

Overall, Zuckerberg made $653,165 last year versus $1.99 million in 2012. The money went largely to fund private planes and his security program, according to the filing.
The 29 year-old Zuckerberg's wealth is estimated at $27 billion. He also owns 61.6% of voting power in the company, giving him carte blanche to forge ahead with deals like the $19 billion pending WhatsApp acquisition and last week's $2 billion proposed takeover of Oculus.
Meanwhile, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg made $16.2 million last year compared to $26.2 million in 2012. Facebook CFO David Ebersman earned $10.5 million, VP David Fischer made $8 million and CTO Mike Schroepfer earned $12.6 million.

FACEBOOK CEO MARK ZUCKERBERG ON WHY FACEBOOK ACQUIRED WHATSAPP

Facebook today announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire WhatsApp, a rapidly growing cross-platform mobile messaging company, for a total of approximately USD 16 billion, including USD 4 billion in cash and approximately USD 12 billion worth of Facebook shares.

The agreement also provides for an additional USD 3 billion in restricted stock units to be granted toWhatsApp’s founders and employees that will vest over four years subsequent to closing.

WhatsApp has built a leading and rapidly growing real-time mobile messaging service, with:

Over 450 million people using the service each month;
70 percent of those people active on a given day;
Messaging volume approaching the entire global telecom SMS volume;
and continued strong growth, currently adding more than 1 million new registered users per day

"WhatsApp is on a path to connect 1 billion people. The services that reach that milestone are all incredibly valuable," said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO. "I've known Jan for a long time and I'm excited to partner with him and his team to make the world more open and connected."

Jan Koum, WhatsApp co-founder and CEO, said, “WhatsApp's extremely high user engagement and rapid growth are driven by the simple, powerful and instantaneous messaging capabilities we provide. We're excited and honored to partner with Mark and Facebook as we continue to bring our product to more people around the world.

Facebook fosters an environment where independent-minded entrepreneurs can build companies, set their own direction and focus on growth while also benefiting from Facebook’s expertise, resources and scale. This approach is working well with Instagram, and WhatsApp will operate in this manner. WhatsApp’s brand will be maintained; its headquarters will remain in Mountain View, CA; Jan Koum will join Facebook’s Board of Directors; and WhatsApp’s core messaging product and Facebook’s existing Messenger app will continue to operate as standalone applications.

Mark Zuckerberg comments on the WhatsApp deal

Mark Zuckerberg
"I’m excited to announce that we’ve agreed to acquire WhatsApp and that their entire team will be joining us at Facebook. Our mission is to make the world more open and connected. We do this by building services that help people share any type of content with any group of people they want.

WhatsApp will help us do this by continuing to develop a service that people around the world love to use every day. WhatsApp is a simple, fast and reliable mobile messaging service that is used by over 450 million people on every major mobile platform."

More than 1 million people sign up for WhatsApp every day and it is on its way to connecting one billion people. More and more people rely on WhatsApp to communicate with all of their contacts every day. WhatsApp will continue to operate independently within Facebook.

The product roadmap will remain unchanged and the team is going to stay in Mountain View. Over the next few years, we're going to work hard to help WhatsApp grow and connect the whole world. We also expect that WhatsApp will add to our efforts forInternet.org, our partnership to make basic internet services affordable for everyone. WhatsApp will complement our existing chat and messaging services to provide new tools for our community. Facebook Messenger is widely used for chatting with your Facebook friends, and WhatsApp for communicating with all of your contacts and small groups of people.

Since WhatsApp and Messenger serve such different and important uses, we will continue investing in both and making them each great products for everyone. WhatsApp had every option in the world, so I’m thrilled that they chose to work with us.

I’m looking forward to what Facebook and WhatsApp can do together, and to developing great new mobile services that give people even more options for connecting. I've also known Jan for a long time, and I know that we both share the vision of making the world more open and connected.

I'm particularly happy that Jan has agreed to join the Facebook board and partner with me to shape Facebook's future as well as WhatsApp's. Jan and the WhatsApp team have done some amazing work to connect almost half a billion people. I can’t wait for them to join Facebook and help us connect the rest of the world.

FACEBOOK ACCOUNT FROM FAKE FRIENDS

Getting more friend requests? Do you feel that they are your friends or your known ones? Many of you may feel that what is the reason to ask these things when Facebook actually asks when you accept any friend request.

People who are behind making new friends daily and want to increase their friends base, they don't feel it is important to even know whether the request is real or fake.

But sometimes it is necessary to know who these people are who without you knowing them are sending friend requests. Facebook informs the mutual friends between you and the new friend one who is known to both of you.

Taking this situation into consideration, finding a solution for finding out who actually are the people who send you friend requests must be known to you. So, Facebook has an app for that too.

FakeOFF app - an app to protect your account from scammers or fakers. This finds out the bogus and fake accounts.

How to use Fake Off App and find out fake friends in account:

  • Log in to your Facebook account
  • Go to the link : Fake Off App
  • On the screen click, Connect With Facebook
  • All your friends will be displayed on the screen
  • If you know them not to test them but if you find out one who is fake then click Lets check him / her
  • Then click Basic Investigation
  • The app will ask your permission. Click OK.
  • The app will display some questions for you to answer. Like do you know him / her outside Facebook or is he / her a celebrity, etc. Answer those by clicking on the check boxes below them.
  • Click Submit And Get Basic Results
  • The analysis process takes some time to display the results. It will display in the score from 1 to 10.
Depending upon the score of the analysis, you will have to decide whether you can continue to be friends or not.

On this same lines, there is another app called FB Checker app that also informs you who is fake and who is real.

Better late than never. Better keep protected by people who just enter in your friends list and then grab all your details. To avoid being a victim and getting accused, better have a proper way to judge who your real friends are and who are not.

WHO ARE YOUR FACEBOOK PROFILE VISITORS

Facebook users know how to set options to limit audience to their profile or posts via "Who can see my stuff" option from the Settings option. But here I am not discussing that option here. A start to say that users can limit their audience either to "Public" or Private" or "Friends" etc.

Either you can use Facebook Apps to check the profile visitors or there is another way to deal with it. That is installing the Extensions or Add - On's for a specific browser. Depending upon the browser you are using, you can install that add on and instantly get notified.

For Firefox users : If you are using Firefox, then an add on called "iFrameBook" is useful for information of who is visiting your profile. This add on is completely free to download.

Steps to download iFrameBook for Mozilla Firefox:

  • Visit the link "LINK"
  • Click Download
Please note that if your friend also has installed this add on on his or her browser then it is possible for you to know that he has visited your profile.

For Google Chrome users : If you are having Chrome, then you can have this extension called "Profile Visitors".

This extension is for Firefox and Chrome both browsers. To get it for Chrome,
  • Go to the link Profile Visitors
  • Select the option Chrome from the drop down list
  • Then click "Activate" button

Facebook App Profile Visitors: There is another way to find out the profile visitors. An app called ProfileVisitors  will help you.

When you visit the link, you will be directed to a Facebook page. On that you have to click on the link fromAbout section. The link will direct you to the download link.

Any way you use or any browser you use, there is a possibility of finding out the profile visitors of your Facebook account. To keep your account safe and secured from hackers, this is very necessary step. People may hack or get the details which are not shown on your profile.

So, get it secured by downloading an add on.

FACEBOOK ADS OR GOOGLE ADS

Google and Facebook are the two top sites, best in their own ways. People who have used Google ad words or Google ads have come across the word "Keyword". Google operates totally on the world of "Keywords". Best keywords and your site is at the top. But when Facebook also has a feature of advertisingto boost the business, advertisers have an opportunity to use n-number of words.
In the month of October 2013, Google announced that it will include Facebook Ads. The option of Facebook Ads is used for building a more broader fan base and more visibility to the larger group of Facebook users. Businessmen who use Facebook Ads have experienced the effectiveness of it on the users.

It all depends on the advertising quality means, after all a customer or a user or visitor will first think that what will he get out of it. Users or visitors welcome gifts, rewards, recognitions.
After all this still the question is unanswered, i.e, which to prefer: Facebook Ads or Google Ads.
We will discuss this point wise with comparison.
  • Basic Platforms : Basically both are different from each other. Google is a search engine and Facebook is a social networking site. Google will not connect with friends and share but Facebook does. Similarly Facebook won't display the search results according to the keywords.
  • Keywords: For building any advertisement via any channel you need a good set of keywords. Google does that with ad words. When opting for Google Ad-words a best set of keywords have to be studied and then have to be applied. Because when a user searches with a specific keyword in Google, the ads are also displayed accordingly. In Facebook, there is no need of using keywords for displaying in the results.
  • Quantity and Quality of Ads: As Google works on keywords, the ads displayed will be according to the specific keyword. Hence if the keyword is searched in Google and is in the top then the ads displayed in the right side of the search results will be of best quality and more ads. In Facebook, recently there was an announcement made that it will display less and unwanted ads in the News Feed. Hence, depending on the quality of ads and likes of Facebook users, the social media will display ads.
  • Average Cost : Both have different CPC rates. Facebook has $0.80 CPC while Google has $2.50 CPC.
  • Brand Building : Any business which is just the baby in learning how to build a brand in the market, will opt for Facebook Ads mainly due to the larger audience on the social media. The reason behind this is people are always connected to Facebook and spend much time on it. Hence to draw their attention it is best to use Facebook Ads.
  • Google+ page and Facebook fan page : A brand needs its building bricks in the form of separate pages in Google or Facebook. Facebook fan pages shows the likes very clearly and this adds to more popularity of a particular fan page. When the fan page is very much popular, it gets a verification mark with a "Tick mark" besides its name with a blue color. This recognition is sufficient for anyone to judge that a particular page is best and will provide the needed information. In the similar way Google+ page will have people following it. So "Likes" in Facebook fan page and "Followers" in Google+ page.
  • Ad space :  Google tops when it comes to the ad space it acquires. One third of the screen is acquired by Google Ads.The image below displayed shows the highlighted boxes with ads.

But when compared with Facebook Ads, the amount of space it gets is very less.
  • Traffic Generation / Lead Generation :  Good point and a very important point of discussion. This is the main thing that every advertiser looks for. Whichever way you choose, at the end of the day one will look for how many turned up. In case of Google Ad-words, according to the specific keywords that user looks for is displayed in the side and at the top of the search results. If it is alluring then they get noticed and gets clicked. Works best. As discussed in the earlier point regarding the ad space, most space is acquired by Google than Facebook. But when Facebook is displaying ads in the News Feed, it will display according to the likes of a user.

Clubbing all this together if we think, Google Ads will get direct sales and direct hits as compared to Facebook Ads.Ad-words is a stronger platform because it will display those ads only which people are looking for to buy. It works best with e-commerce sites.

If you are using Facebook to get lead generation then better is to direct it to a squeeze page and then hit the records.

Did I miss something here... Please share it.
